We are pleased to announce that Gunter Shlierkamp, current top IFBB Pro (The Worlds Largest Bodybuilder) was the Special Guest Poser at the 2005 South Pacific Champs in Papeete, Tahiti, 20th -23rd of October. Click here to see pictures from this event.

Introduction - Background

The South Pacific Bodybuilding Federation is affiliated to the IFBB, it represents all 22 countries of the South Pacific and its role is to promote and develop the sport of bodybuilding throughout the South Pacific Region.

The SPBBF is recognised and affiliated to the South Pacific Games Council and as such bodybuilding is one of the most popular sports at the South Pacific Games.

The Annual South Pacific Championships were first held in Rarotonga in 1992 and this important annual event has been hosted every year since then by various member countries, incorporating the SP Games events every fourth year.

The South Pacific Bodybuilding Federation wishes to encourage bodybuilders to represent their country of heritage to participate and support.

The 2005 South Pacific Championships were held recently in Papeete , Tahiti 21 - 23 October and these were a great success with 8 member countries/teams represented.

Looking ahead we are thrilled to announce that already bodybuilding has been confirmed on the programme for the 2007 South Pacific Games in Samoa and the 2011 Games in New Caledonia .

In 2006 the Annual South Pacific Bodybuilding Championships will be hosted by the member federation in PNG in the Capital of Port Moresby.
